L ROD

LROD (elrod) is from the borderland of El Paso, TX, and is a recognized choreographer, filmmaker, mask maker, and new media designer. LROD’s mission crosses the borders we carry in co-creative spaces sharing radical tenderness with each moving body. LROD creates inclusive installations, surreal dance-works, and integrates emerging technology with care. LROD has been invited to the Joyce Theater, NYU/Steinhardt, Brown, and Jacob’s Pillow to present on advocacy, pedagogy, and technology with movement-based practices.

LROD the company started in 2014 straddling immersive, experimental, and dance theater lineages utiliziing co-creative methodologies. LROD was a former core member of La Pocha Nostra with Guillermo Goméz Peña & Balitronica navigating pedagogies of "Radical Tenderness." LROD has an MFA from The Ohio State University in Dance/Choreography & Intermedia Studies with a minor in Latinx Studies in 2020. LROD received a BFA in dance through the professional dancers' program at Cornish College of the Arts  2017. LROD is a non-traditional student who before college, directed, performed, and designed in the field of Dance & media for over twenty-five years. LROD's courses combine practical and critical studies moving towards embodied pedagogy and environments woven with tenderness.

Currently, LROD is the Interim Head of Dance and Lecturer in Theater, Dance & Media at Harvard University, Artistic Director of Harvard Dance Project, Affiliated Faculty of Critical Media Practice, and core artist for Livable Futures.
