TDM Artist Spotlight: Dede Ayite

Each semester, we have the honor of profiling some of the incredible professional artists involved in our TDM productions. Our first artist spotlight this spring shines on Lecturer on Theater, Dance & Media Dede Ayite! Dede is the costume designer for the 2024 Harvard Dance Project production.

What inspires you as an artist and creative?

I am inspired by the ability for art to capture and showcase our humanity back to us. This exchange often provides a space for healing to occur.

What excites you about this year's Harvard Dance Project?

What's been a memorable moment so far on this production?

A memorable moment for me was observing each student explore their sense of self through movement in their costume fittings. There is something magical when you observe a garment move whilst the performer explores their relationship with that specific garment.
