In the early days of this century, 13 playwrights joined forces so they could see their work fully produced in New York under their own artistic leadership. They called themselves 13P and announced that their mission was to produce 13 plays, with each of them taking a turn as artistic director during the production of their own play, and once that mission was completed the organization would dissolve. By the time they held their "implosion party" in 2012, 13P had brought rewards never imagined, and inspired copycats that they continue to support to this day.
