Location:

Harvard Dance Center, 66 Garden Street, Cambridge

Antoine Hunter

Deaf choreographer, dancer, and founding artistic director of Urban Jazz Dance Company Antoine Hunter will teach an Afro-Cuban Modern and American Sign Language dance master class.

Mr. Hunter is a powerful member of the Deaf community who developed his own unique fusion of traditional folk dance, modern Afro-Cuban, and American Sign Language dance, as well as components from jazz, modern, and classical American dance forms. Mr. Hunter's choreography is about honoring yourself and others, and explores American Sign Language (ASL) as both a form of dance and of dance as a language, nonverbal, and gestured.

Class will be assisted by Zahna Simon, Deaf dancer of Urban Jazz Dance Company, and ASL interpretation and live music will be provided. Class will be followed by a Q&A.

All are welcome at this class: Hearing and Deaf people, bold and shy spirits, and experienced and non-experienced dancers. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Participation is free! Online registration is required to reserve your spot in the class. Observers are also welcome!
