CZJoin “one of theater’s most sought-after costume designers on both coasts” Cathy Zuber in conversation with Julia Smeliansky and her class on The Art of Scenography: 20th and 21st Century Directorial Concepts and Set Design. Zuber received the 217 Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award and is a 2016 Theater Hall of Fame inductee.

ABOUT CATHY ZUBER
Catherine Zuber is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, and has been referred to as “one of theater’s most sought-after costume designers on both coasts”. Ms. Zuber has been nominated for 14, and received 7 Tony Awards. Her Broadway credits include My Fair Lady (Tony Award), Golden Boy, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Tony nomination), Born Yesterday (Tony nomination), The Royal Family (Tony Award),CZ South Pacific (Tony Award), The Coast of Utopia (Tony Award),  Doubt, Little Women, Dinner at Eight (Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk nominations), Twelfth Night (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), among others. Her opera credits include L’elisir d’amore, Le comte Ory, and Il barbiere di Siviglia. She is a recipient of a 2012 Olivier Award nomination, Henry Hewes Awards for Outstanding Costume Design in 2003 and 2004, a 2004 Lucille Lortel Award, a 2004 Ovation Award, and Obie Awards for Sustained Achievement in 1997 and 2005.

ABOUT TDM 150 THE ART OF SCENOGRAPHY
Taught by Lecturer on Theater, Dance & Media Julia Smeliansky, The Art of Scenography: 20th and 21st Century Directorial Concepts introduces students to the oeuvre of the most influential 20th and 21st century directors and set designers. Students examine the work of the great 20th and 21st century auteur directors and set designers through researching primary source materials in the Harvard Theatre Collection, speaking with guest artists, and viewing productions in and beyond Boston.
