March TDM BIPOC Play Discussion Group

Date:

Friday, March 25, 2022, 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Location:

Zoom

It’s time to decolonize your play reading list! Every month, TDM’s BIPOC Play Discussion Group meets to discuss plays by Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color playwrights, whose works are all too often left off of the syllabi at institutions of higher education. The March play will be BABA by Denmo Ibrahim.

Open to current Harvard students, staff, and faculty. Zoom links will be sent out closer to the event date.

ABOUT BABA

Flashback to 1980, New York City, in line waiting at The US Office of Immigration. We meet Mohammed, a young father living out his dream in America, struggling to get a US passport for his daughter for an upcoming trip back to Egypt. Freedom and family collide when his search for the American dream leads Layla on a quest home thirty years later.

Copies of the script are available on the New Play Exchange website. HOLLIS provides free access to the New Play Exchange script database with your HarvardKey.
