In this TDM Open Seminar, writer EllaRose Chary, director Jay Stull and composer Erato A. Kremmyda will discuss their investigative approach to theater making--a process they call Horizontal Theater--alongside their current work-in-progress “Untitled New Hampshire Project,” which explores  the rise of the Free State Project, its anarcho-capitalist mission, and the controversies and heartbreak that accompany participation in ideological politics. Based on extensive interviews with members of the Free State Project, Chary, Stull and Kremmyda will use this Open Seminar to demonstrate how archives of interviews and other primary source research materials can inspire new forms of musical theater.

Jay Stull is a playwright, director, and teacher. His work as both a writer and director has been developed or produced by Ars Nova, Roundabout Theater Company, Clubbed Thumb, The Civilians, City Center Off-Center, Gym at Judson, The Tank, Bloomington Playwrights Project, Fresh Ground Pepper, New Light Theater Project, The Amoralists, and Dixon Place. He is an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Director's Lab, The Civilians R&D Group, and the Clubbed Thumb Early Career Directing Fellowship, and is a founding member of the theater company Third Person. Erato A. Kremmyda is a composer working across genres and countries.
