Audition for Theater, Dance & Media’s A DREAM PLAY, by August Strindberg

This fall, Theater, Dance & Media (TDM) will present Strindberg’s A DREAM PLAY, adapted and directed by Daniel Kramer, at Farkas Hall. Daniel is a Visiting Professor in TDM and an award winning theater, opera and dance director based London where he is Artistic Director of English National Opera. In Kramer's pared down, physically aggressive interpretation, Agnes, daughter of the Gods, snaps through space and time, witnessing and experiencing the struggles of daily life under the illusory Dream of Happiness. In Strindberg's words, "the characters split, double, multiply, evaporate, condense, disperse, assemble.”  In this production, an ensemble of eleven diverse performers will embody the multiplicity of characters that twist and explode around Agnes, the Officer and the Lawyer. The ensemble will devise the installation with Daniel, finding a contemporary performance language that reflects their world: messy, dirty, wild, naughty, non-traditional, pop, drag, trans, ALL COLORS AND SIZES, full of singing, dancing, piano playing, acting, rage, joy and despair. And hope.

Auditions will take place Sept. 1-3 in an ensemble workshop fashion.  Auditioners will sign up for an hour and a half workshop where they will participate in exercises and text work with Daniel.  To set up an audition appointment, please e-mail Thomas Peterson at thomaspeterson@college.harvard.edu.
